My Four-Legged Hearts

A poem

Dogs, family
Mystique (mom), Spirit (dad), and Castiel (puppy)

There was a time my clothes were clean
And I had more hair on my head than my chair.
I only did whatever I wanted
And slept in without any cares.

There was a blue-eyed black lab
Abandoned and alone
Living on rodents in the woods
Walking skin and bones

He was the friendliest soul
Just needing love and affection.
I opened my home, he opened my heart -
Even the restricted section.

Tyr was the angel on four legs,
Who got this whole thing started.
A runaway pit bull, Spirit,
Stepped in when Tyr departed.

Mystique was a rescue,
Whose appearance was just as abrupt.
She got together with Spirit,
Bringing us Castiel the pup.

My little pack is always chasing
Adventure, excitement and fun.
They are the ones keeping me going,
Keeping me active and young.
